If you're reading this article you probably already know some of the many benefits that protein can bring you. Things like building DNA and RNA, regulating the pH balance, constructing neurotransmitters, enzymes and hormones, as well as their incredible importance to the immune system (since antibodies are proteins).
There was a time when these benefits lead to the creation of the so called High Protein Diet. This diet had a lot of protein at the expense of carbohydrates. When followed to its extreme it lead to some problems. Unfortunately most people don't understand that there is a BIG difference between this diet and a diet that replaces the fat. This makes all the difference because fat has 9 calories per gram whereas protein has 4 calories per gram. Therefore you can replace 4 grams of fat with 9 grams of protein WITHOUT the severe lowering of calories from carbohydrates that was the original problem of the diet.
Now the second tip I am going to give you is how you can do this. Use a protein supplement (be it a powder or a liquid) to replace some of the calories in your diet that come from fat. In this way you will increase your protein intake at the expense of fat.
Warning: you should be very careful when choosing a protein supplement. You can do yourself harm if you select a manufacturer that does not pay very close attention to: the protein source and quality of the protein, the manufacturing process (which can easily damage the protein), the fat and carb content (which can upset your calorie percentages as well as comprise useless calories) and the additives (preservatives, flavors etc).
