Here's a Simple Question - What Are Herbs?
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

The term "herbs" is a general one.  Herbs, by definition, refer to a planet that is valued for its scents or flavors.  These herbs are often used in cooking, medicine or for religious or spiritual awakening.

Some people consider herbs to be the highest quality food known to man perhaps even gifts from God.  Scientific minds think of herbs as rich resources for vitamins, minerals and other trace elements.

What are herbs' advantages?

Herbs can be used to maintain your health, improve your health or restore your health after sickness.  Some people actually place more faith in herbs than in modern medicine, believing that they get to the root of health problems.  Herbal substances are not drugs.  Technically, they are food products.

Are Herbs Safe?

Like any type of food, if you over indulge with some herbs you will get sick, perhaps even critically ill.  So most herbal users are advised to either see a doctor or herbal specialist before undergoing homeopathic treatment.

A professional in the health industry can help you avoid dangerous mixes or a potential overdose.  If you use herbs as directed you do not have to worry about any harmful side effects.  Mixing herbs (provided they don't interact with any other substances in your body) reduces the chance of painful side effects even more so.

What are herbs in a literal sense?  From what substance are they made from?  Herbs are made from plant or an extract of plant.  This could be any substance from leaves, berries, roots, bark, seeds, gums, stems and flowers.

Herbal Usage the World Over

Some spiritualists believe that herbs have elements in them that allow human beings to live in harmony with the laws of Mother Nature.  Whether or not this spiritual vision is true, it is safe to say that because herbs are natural supplements, they can be of benefit to cautious users.

So... what are herbs, really?

In fact, herbs have been used throughout human history as healthcare treatment, recently in the Western world, but for ages in Eastern countries.  Some users and herbal doctors believe that herbs are the best and safest way to cure illnesses, from minor aches and pains to even degenerative terminal illnesses.

Interestingly, studies have suggested that 25% of prescription drugs distributed throughout the US actually contain ingredients from herbs or are synthesized to imitate herbal compounds.

Therefore, even the scientific or medical community can't state that herbs are not effective medical treatment.  They use herbs themselves!  The question is how effective is taking only herbal medication for recovering patients or everyday consumers?

Many overseas doctors are convinced that herbs can benefit human beings in the event of surgery, as general medicine, for treating certain diseases, for improving sexual health, for improving moods and for general enhancement of life quality.

Are herbs what you think they are?

Herbs can be anything- gifts from God, scientific instruments, miracle drugs or just one other serving of food on your plate that helps you function.

For more information, look up herbal remedies by name or search your local homeopathic drug store.
