There are many fears in life that are shared by millions of people across the planet. Public speaking is one of those fears. Even though it may seem to be an impossible fear to get over, it can be done. Just as with any fear a person has, there are steps to take in order to gradually get you to the point of being recovered from the fear. No long you have to hold back from the success or public figure you could be due to a fear of public speaking.
The first thing you are going to want to do when getting prepared for your speech is to do research. Besides the obvious of researching your specific topic, you will want to research the audience you will have. Will you be speaking to mostly women? What is the age demographic you will be in front of? Answering these questions and others will help you make sure that you are addressing your audience in an appropriate and entertaining enough matter that you will hold their attention.
Most people love to hear stories. So whether the story is a personal one that you have experienced in your past or something that you have picked up along the way, tell a story that helps to convey the message that you are trying to get across. This will help to get your audience feeling for you and the message you have. Even though there may be a story involved, it is important that you make sure that you are keeping it all on topic. Stick to the point you are trying to make instead of rambling off onto various other topics.
After you have gone through your introduction and the body of your speech, it is then time for the conclusion. It is vitally important to make sure that you have all of your points in the conclusion. Even if your speech was not an incredibly long run, some people have short attention spans or may not remember all of the points you tried making during your speech. This is why it is so important that you retouch on those areas of your speech in order to make the ideas stick with those who were listening.
After you are done writing your speech you will want to make sure that you read it, read it more, and then read it even a little more. Take a look at your speech from an outsider's perspective. Make sure that what you wrote really sticks to just one message or the overall theme for your speech. Was there enough passion in your speech? Although you want to keep your voice down, in most cases, you have to make sure that you are conveying passion to your audience.
Without that passion, they will find it hard to get interested and excited about the points you are trying to make. After you have gone over it all with a fine-tooth comb, you will be ready to take that step of public speaking with confidence. You know what you are talking about and you are fully prepared. There is nothing to worry about.
