ARTICLE
To get the most traffic you need links that bring traffic to your site. Several factors need to be considered. Once you read this, you will know more link building techniques to grow your traffic. We'll talk about the building links by using video, pictures, social media and search engines. In about 5 minutes you'll have a great set of options to take in order to build links to your site.
PICTURES / VIDEO
When building links to your main niche site, your goal is to get people to click on a link to your main site. What better way to do it than with pictures and video. It will grab people's attention every time. One way to use pictures for link building is with Flickr. You can host images of your content with keyword rich titles for the images. In the image descriptions put a link to an article of yours using keyword anchor text. With videos you can do the same thing. Give YouTube a try first. Another video source that I'm seeing more of these days is Vimeo. As a result of using video for backlinks, you can draw more traffic. Once your traffic gets engaged, and want to know more, they will click on your link, and will be taken back to your site. It's a great link building strategy. So what's next?
SOCIAL MEDIA SOURCES
With the last 5 years or so, social media has grown from a fringe thing to a key part of the web experience. A recent study showed that over 90% of business is committed to social media. It's becoming a standard way of building links and traffic. Why is social media important with building back links? Do I need to ask? Here's a good reason. Go to Google trends and type in "facebook": when you see the graph of their growth, then you'll see why social media is hugely important. Traffic is huge.
To get started, simply make a point on a social media site such as Twitter. Submit your comments to social bookmarking sites such as Digg, Mixx or StumbleUpon. Remember though that you need to be an active member. You do this by participating on these sites, making friends, supporting and encouraging your friend's submissions and opinions in order to get any support back. With Twitter you can build links back by making a point with a link to your site. Also, articles pointing to your twitter site can feed your tweets with traffic. Remember though that these won't work for you if you aren't participating by supporting and encouraging other member's efforts. Social media is about being... social. After video and social media, the next link building strategy is to use search engines.
SEARCH ENGINES AS SOURCE
You can also use search engines to help you build links back to your site. For link building this is important because you can find keywords with high volume websites that feed traffic to your sites. Where are those websites? Let's find out. With Google, do a search on a keyword; note the top 10-30 websites in the search results. These will most likely have many backlinks. But from where? One free tool is "backlinkanalyzer" from seotools.com. With this tool, you can see where a site is getting its links from. Then you visit these sites and see if you can gain a quick link by making a comment, posting or another means. Because Google discounts sites with alot of advertisements and sponsors, be alert while looking for back link sources. Also, visit the sites that are coming up on your radar, and find out for yourself if they look "spammy" with a lot of ads. If so, then pass on them. You want strong content sites with a lot of traffic feeding your own sites
For many people, link building is a mystery. But in reality, its pretty simple. Its just a way to build pathways to your site. So when you begin your link building efforts, keep in mind the use of pictures, video, social media and then finally your own search for websites that already have tons of traffic. Dont let your new knowledge end with this article though. Get started this afternoon by posting an image on Flickr and put a link to your page there. See if you get any traffic from it. You'll be learning something new.
