When you take your vows it tells you that you are promising to help your husband to be through thick and thin. This means through the bad and through the good. Well, ladies we know it's hard. There are ways to help your man through thick and thin then there are ways to make sure that you don't get burned out. So, if you are facing a hard time right now, here are some things that can help you so you can help him one hundred percent.
The first thing you need to remember to do is make time for yourself. If you are taking care of a husband that is ill or has broken bones, you might be like me. You might find yourself doing things that were normally things he'd help you with. By taking on all these extra things, you can easily tire yourself out.
Take a break. You will find that as you take on extra work and help out more, you might feel unappreciated. You might even notice that you snap a bit more than you used to. This is normal. Stress does that to you. Call a friend or ask for a favor where you can go do something fun.
Make time for both of you. At night we found that settling down, not discussing the issue, but watching a movie or doing date night really worked for us. I just made sure he was resting on the couch or whatever it took to keep him comfortable. When you do this, you have at least an hour and a half where the issue isn't really an issue.
Last, go to bed early. You will find that you are drained by the end of the day. We know you might have things to do once you have him resting or whatever, but really that can wait.
When you do these things, you will be able to care for him all the more. What good are you to him if you are drained and can barely make it yourself? Be there for him, but learn to take the time for you too.
