Heartland Energy Drilling Oil in Oklahoma
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Drilling in Oklahoma, although much like drilling in other parts of onshore US, presents its own unique challenges. First there are the land issues. Oklahoma has been home to exploration of oil for over 100 years. In that time, mineral rights have been bought and sold as commodities as well as passed down from one generation to the next, making the mineral ownerships some of the most complicated in the US. Obtaining the mineral rights in order to drill a well in Oklahoma can be quite a challenge.

The next challenge is drilling the well. Although much of Central Oklahoma does not have any over pressured zones or need for Oil based mud, the drilling can still be a challenge and expensive to the drilling company. Oklahoma is home to the Simpson group of sands including the Bromides, McClish, Tulip Creek and Oil Creek sands. Theses sands are some of the most abrasive sands in the country to drill through making the process very difficult. Without the proper synchronization of pump pressure, weight on bit and bit selection, these sands can ruin a drill bit in less than 100' of drilling. It takes experience and know-how to effectively and efficiently drill in central Oklahoma.

Oil is a fossil fuel that can be found in many countries around the world. Our country is very dependent on these Fossil Fuels. Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Coal account for over 70% of the country's energy consumption at this time. Although there will have to be some changes in our energy sources in the future, the United States depends heavily on companies like Heartland Energy and their drilling efforts in Central Oklahoma.
