There are many things that make a business a success or a failure. Among these factors, the most important are the employees of the business concern. Employees are the biggest asset of any organization. All assets can be replaced, but the employees are one asset that you want to retain for a long time.

When you start a business you look for the people who would help you in running your business. You advertise and then select, after a comprehensive procedure, those people who best suit your business. Then, you train them to run your business efficiently.

After all the effort that you have put in to make them your best resource, you certainly do not want to throw them away or waste them in any way. An employer does everything to make sure that all his employees are well taken of. He ensures their safety and health during work.

It is very important to lay out proper and practical plans about the health and safety of the employees. In many workplaces, there are certain kinds of hazards that may cause harm to the employees. Establishments like factories and laboratories are the most vulnerable places that need to be well-equipped to ensure employee health and safety.

Employees working in factories are handling one or other kind of machinery or tool that could cause harm if not handled properly. Similarly, in laboratories employees are handling different kind of chemicals that could be very harmful.

Therefore, the state has also set up some laws regarding the health and safety of the employees at a workplace. All the employers need to follow these laws in their establishments.

They need to have the employee safety and health procedures and plans in the organisation. It is the right of every employee to have safe and healthy workplace. If we take a look around us, people contract some diseases due to working in some specific industry. Take an example of people who work in spinning mills; in the establishment where the employees are not provided with equipment for their safety, most of them develop asthma or such other diseases.

Therefore, the workplace should have all the safety equipment required, depending on its nature. Some of the safety equipment includes safety showers and eyewash. The purpose of safety showers is for the safety of employees. If, in any case, they get exposed to some harmful material in the establishment, they should wash themselves immediately.

Similarly, eyewash is for washing any harmful material that you might get in to your eye, during work. All these equipment must be installed on the site, where they can be approached immediately. The other most important thing is to train the employees about the operation of these equipments. The employer should make sure that all these safety equipment are in working condition at all times.

Employees should be provided with all the stuff for their safety, such as special clothes, helmets, masks, etc that are required. Apart from all this, there must be plan of action that has to be carried out, just in case an accident happens. Every employee should know all these procedures.
