I know every parent dreads getting a call from school. I had no idea what was coming when the school nurse got me on the phone to tell me that my child had head lice. I was absolutely floored. Once I looked into it I started to feel better about the situation because lots of kids get head lice at some point. It is easily passed from kid to kid during school. The good news is that there are some easy options available to get rid of those pesky head louse.

I was doing research after my daughter came up with head lice and I read a lot about head lice repellent. I liked the idea so I started to look into it. Everything I could find talked about how head lice repellent helps to prevent your child from getting head lice in the first place. This sounds like a good idea until you start to look into it.

All head lice repellents state that you should apply at the nape of the neck, behind the ears and on the wrists. Just think about doing this every single day for each of your children. I don't know about you but this seems like a lot of work and waste of time. Can you imagine how much you would have to spend to use this stuff for at least 8 years of school for each of your children?

Also think about what your kid does at school on a daily basis when he is younger? How long do you actually think that the repellent would stay on them? So while head lice repellent sounds nice in principle, it doesn't make much sense from a practical stand point. Plus how can you ever be sure that it even works in the first place? Your child might never even be one of those children that gets them anyway!
