Have you ever heard of the "see-food" diet? Some people would tell you the best way to gain weight is to eat donuts and fast-food all day. That is far from the truth because you will end up with a skinny-fat look. Skinny-fat is when you are still skinny but with a big beer belly. Some people would also tell you that it is fine as long as you workout.
Hardgainer diet to build muscle:
From my experience, I gained 25 pounds of lean mass by eating healthy. I had about 1-2 cheat meals per week because I don't have a choice when I go hang out with my friends. I always started my morning with a huge serving of plain oatmeal. You can't get any healthier than eating plain oatmeal. I always choose fat-free milk, and if that is too nasty for you, then try reduced fat.
Most of the time, I just stuff healthy food in the blender and chug it. I have to admit that it was disgusting at first, but you will get used to it after awhile. Eating plain oatmeal blended with water isn't exactly my favorite. If you are not gaining any weight, then add a little bit more to your diet. I remember going from 3 servings of oatmeal in the morning to 6 servings. You will gain weight if you eat enough, but most people think they are already eating enough. If you have an extremely fast metabolism like me, then you need to eat a lot more than you think.
If you can't eat plain oatmeal, then mix in some real berries or other fruits such as bananas. If you are serious about building muscles the natural way as a hardgainer, then you need to stop crying about eating "nasty" food. Just chug it and deal with it.
