Halo 2 was the second installment of the cult video game series Halo. Shortly after its release Halo 2 became the ace product on Xbox, holding the status until Gears of War was released for the Xbox 360, two years down the line.

Added to the already popular features of the first edition was a new physics engine known as Havoc physics; the game also featured more sophisticated weapons, multi-player augments and many further powerful vehicles.

The storyline takes off from the thrilling conclusion of Halo: Combat Evolved and the human controller manage two of the protagonists, including the Arbiter, alongside the Master Chief. In 2007, hired Microsoft personnel developed a Windows Vista version.

Halo 2 takes place in the intriguing Halo Universe where the powerful colonizers, the human race face an alien alliance known as the Covenant in a mammoth struggle for galactic supremacy.

The game begins with the trial of ex-Covenant elite who faces enquiry from fellow aliens for his inability to prevent the destruction of Installation: 04, one of the Haloes that the Covenant covets in the quest for an apparent spiritual transcendence through what they call the "great" or ultimate journey.

This event is featured alongside the felicitation of human UNSC commanders, A.J.Johnson and Miranda Keyes besides the Master Chief.

Soon following this event, the Covenant send armed cruiser ships toward Earth carrying enough ammunition to destroy the MAC that provides protection to Earth.

The human army manages to prevent the Covenant attack receiving able support from Master Chief. The Covenant ship manages to find a second Halo called Delta Halo.

The human entourage follows in a ship called In Amber Clad with the specific task of preventing the activation of the Halo and the assassination of The High Prophet called Regret present in the ship.

The dishonored Covenant elite is given a chance to redeem himself and assigned the name of Arbiter. He ultimately becomes aware of the danger that the Halos present to the galaxy and decides to work towards the deactivation of these super-weapons.

Meanwhile, the Flood, a parasitic race infects the city of High Charity owned by the Covenant. The Arbiter along with others manages to prevent the activation of the Halo. The unexpected loss of power in the Halo makes it send a signal to the remaining Halo's and the game ends on a tantalizing note thus setting up the story for Halo 3.
