Halloween fancy dress costumes are so much fun to wear that many of us end up dressing up for events throughout the year due to its influence. It's a yearly tradition for some of us to make our own costume and show it off at a party to celebrate the October holiday. Sometimes the outfit will be a replica of one you might have seen on the television or in a magazine or maybe a unique creation that you've been planning for months. Either way making it yourself from scratch is very entertaining and will gain you plenty of compliments if you do it right.
It's fair to say that we aren't all amazingly creative but a bit of concentration, a lot of preparation and a good set of instructions can get you a long way. Here are a few ideas for Halloween fancy dress outfits that you can produce yourself with minimal work but will make you look fantastic:
Men's Halloween Fancy Dress - Guys, a really easy outfit to make from a few old clothes is a skeleton costume. Cut the shape of a bone out of a piece of A4 thick card and get a can of white spray paint out of the garage. Grab a pair of well-worn black sweat pants and t-shirt, place the bone template that you've created onto your clothes and spray on your body structure. Another template could be made for the rib cage from an A3 piece of card or give it a go freehand with a paint brush if the feeling takes you!
Ladies Halloween Fancy Dress - Zombies can be formed from pretty much any set of clothes that you want to throw together. Got a sack of clothes that you were going to throw out and you don't mind wrecking? Perfect! Soak your chosen mix of clothes in a pan of boiling water and a handful of tea bags and let them soak for 12 hours. Get a bottle of red food colouring and flick some all over the damp costume so that the fake blood leaks into the material and voilĂ ! Instant zombie costume.
Making your own Halloween fancy dress costume will generally save you some money as many modern outfits can be quite expensive. Recycling your old wardrobe favourites will allow you to keep money in your pocket and make the holiday season that much more special. Be it a simple ghost outfit made from an old bed sheet or a more complex vampire costume consisting of a lace corset and cape, the most important thing is to have fun fashioning it yourself.
