Hair Loss Surgery - 5 Facts You MUST Know About Hair Loss Surgeries
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Are you thinking about getting hair loss surgery done to make your hair more full and thick? Well before you go ahead and do it, here are 5 important facts you should really know about hair loss surgeries.

FACT #1.  Hair loss surgery can be VERY expensive.

You have to be considerably well-off if you even want to consider getting a surgical procedure done.  The cost of hair loss surgeries can range anywhere from $1,500 to $5,000.  And this doesn't include any of the follow-up appointments, medications, and other post-operative activities.

FACT #2.  For a few weeks after the procedure is done, you will experience a good amount of pain recovering, especially after the local anesthetic wears off.

Most surgical procedures will actually involve cutting and slicing your scalp, which will obviously cause bleeding, inflammation, and crusting.  You will have to keep your head wrapped for a few days after the procedure and then slowly begin washing in with special shampoos.

FACT #3.  You must make sure that the area you had the procedure done on stays completely clean to prevent any infections from developing.

Post-operative care is of up most importance when getting these types of procedures done.  The hair transplants need to have specialized treatment and you need to take proper care of these hair transplants so that they are able to grow into healthy hair.  If something gets infected, you can pretty much guarantee that the procedure will not turn out the way you want it to.

FACT #4.  You may have to go back for follow-up procedures

It's quite possible that some follicles may start to fall out.  Most likely, these strands will just become useless.  But sometimes you can go back to the doctor's office and they can do something to fix the complication.  Bottom line: don't count on only going to the doctor's office once.

FACT #5.  Seeing results from hair loss surgeries takes time and patience.

It takes almost a year for the final results of the procedure to be evident so you need to bear with the long wait. If you suffer from doubts and anxiety in anticipation of the results, it can prove counter-productive.  Just remember that you didn't grow all of your hair overnight, so it won't all come back in one night.

If you are thinking that hair loss surgery is not right for you, there are certainly other options that are less risky, less painful, and less expensive.
