Hair Growth for Women - Myth Vs Fact

Most people don't realize that women are effected just as much as men when it comes to hair loss. One out of two women will experience some form of hair loss in their lifetime. For women hair loss does not mean going bald like in men.It is usually thinning in some areas or even all over.

How Do Hormones Affect Hair Growth?

Even though estrogen has a great deal to do with hair growth, scientist are not clear on how exactly it is linked and why. Product with estrogen in them have been known to stimulate new hair growth in women. Some women

who have hair loss suffer from a disease called alopecia.

Alopecia is an immune disease which causes the hair to fall out in areas. It can range anywhere from mild or extreme where the person loses all of the hair on their body.

Other things that can affect hair loss can be poor diet, chemical, allergic reactions or stress. Eating a lot of fried foods can starve your system of vital nutrients which can cause your hair to become weak and brittle. This will lead to hair falling out or breaking off quicker than your body can regenerate it which will cause thinning hair. Chemical reactions such as bleaching your hair or perming can cause hair loss as well if you do it for long periods of time. Allergic relations can be caused by the enviroment or by other products that you use can cause hair to fall out as well. Finally stress is a huge factor in hair loss, being in high stress situations for long periods of time can cause hair loss and fatigue just to name a few things.

There a lot of myths flying around about hair  growth so here are a few we chose to answer for you:

Hair loss comes from your mothers side of the family. False, it can come from both sides. Women can start losing their hair when they start their menstrual cycle. False, your menstrual cycle doesn't affect hair growth. Myth, hormones can cause the loss of hair. True, they can also cause a number if different problems that your doctor can test you for. Myth, coloring, combing and washing your hair too much can cause the hair to thin. False, as long as you don't have a bad reaction to any of these things it should be fine.

So what can you do to  start new hair growth. There are many options and you need to find ones that work for you. I use a shampoo and conditioner that helps with hair growth. My mom uses a follicle simulator, and my younger brother uses vitamins. So don't give up there are many things out there to help with hair growth you just have to find the one that fits you.
