Guitar Mistakes That Make Beginners Quit, Part 1
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

If you're a beginning guitarist, guitar mistakes are very common for you and you probably spend most of your time trying to fix them. It's fair to say that you can't learn the guitar over night and making beginner's mistakes is expected.

However, too many starting guitarists quit the instrument too early and are really missing out on a new talent that can enrich their lives. Check out this list of familiar reasons that many beginners are quitting the guitar.

1. Learning with only a few options.

Beginners might look at the guitar and think that a few books and their own ingenuity is all that's available for them to learn, but that's not the case. You need to realize that powerful sources of guitar information like books, e-books, online courses, private lessons, guitar forums, video tutorials, and clubs are all available for you to continue improving.

2. Throwing in the towel early.

You're going to make guitar mistakes, but you need to be thankful that you're making them early. It's all too common for starting guitar players to think that they should be developing at a much faster rate than they are when they're usually right on track.

Make only a few simple goals at a time like simple songs you want to play, or riffs you would like to master, and stay consistent with your methods.

3. Getting frustrated by dead notes.

Do you know that clunky sound your guitar strings make when you can't get all the frets pushed down appropriately to make a real tone? That distinct noise can really discourage you from playing if you hear it enough.

Simply reevaluate the ways that you form your chords and the strength you distribute to your fingers and this should be another guitar mistake of the past.

4. The lack of positive thinking and visualization.

If you think that you're never going to get anywhere on the guitar, then you probably won't. It's a vicious cycle when you take positive thinking out of your guitar plans.

For those who think about doing poorly, they usually don't put in that much effort, they get worse results, and so they think even less about themselves. Flip that idea around.

If you focus on being an awesome player, you'll put more effort into your practice, you'll get better results, and that will push you to continue.

5. Neglecting to use all your fingers.

Starting out with only a few fingers in the works can really bite you later when it matters. Beginners often make the mistake of using only three fingers on the fret board and when it comes time to use more, they get discouraged and quit.

Try to get all of your fingers involved in order save some heartache later.

6. Having no one else to support your new talent.

As trivial as it sounds, having someone support your new project of learning the guitar can sometimes mean the world. If you simply talk about it with some friends or family members, someone is bound to smile and tell you that it's a great idea.

Guitar mistakes are going to happen if you're just learning, but the important thing is getting back on the horse when the terrain throws you off. Think about these problems the next time you practice and try to push through the aspects that get you discouraged.
