Guanacaste Province The Best of Both Worlds - Pacific Ocean and Mountain Views

Now that you've made the decision to live in Costa Rica, the next big decision you need to make is where you want to put down your roots.

Costa Rica offers you every option you could ever want as far as climate and scenery are concerned.  Costa Rica has over 1200km (800 miles) of coastline on two separate oceans, offering beaches of every conceivable type. Mountain peaks up to 3800m (12000 ft), the highest being Cerro Chirripo at 3,819 meters (12,530 ft), and Irazu Volcano at 3,431 m (11,257 ft).  The Costa Rican climate ranges from hot, humid tropical rainforest, to temperate grasslands, to semi-arid deserts and high mountain peaks.  This wide variety of terrain and climate can be experienced within a couple hours drive from wherever you are, no matter where you start.

The one place that combines the best of all that Costa Rica has to offer is the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste Province.  Here you can choose from pure sand beaches to mountain living with amazing views.  In fact, there are places on the mountain slopes where you can live in a temperate climate and have both Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Nicoya views.  Visualize yourself living on a gentle hillside with a gentle breeze wafting in the aroma of wildflowers, listening to monkeys chatter and birds singing, while you are watching the water sparkling in the sun on both horizons. Yes sir, Pura Vida is the way to live.

Most people who move to a foreign country, to live or retire, end up living in a climate similar to the one they are leaving.  While living on a tropical beach sounds great while you are living in Chicago or New York (especially in January), when people emigrate to a foreign country they tend to gravitate to climates and surroundings that are familiar to them.  That's why in America the Scandinavian immigrants settled in the North woods and Hispanic immigrants predominately remain in the Southwest.  Most Americans relocating to Costa Rica prefer the highlands for the climate, topography, and surroundings.

Guanacaste has a climate and environment to suite almost every new resident.  Miamians will find the beachfront condos very familiar, Midwesterners will appreciate the upland farms and plantations, while Westerners will find the cowboys and cattle ranches reminding them of home.  Alternatively, if you prefer completely different surroundings, you can find what you are looking for while remaining a couple of hours away from an area that reminds you of your home turf.

You can buy an American style condo on the beach and not have a care in the world, and live a true retirement lifestyle, playing everyday.  Perhaps you just want to retire from your present job, and want to change careers and build your business on your own terms on your own property.  Maybe you want to create your own estate or build a place to share with the rest of the world, while preserving the natural beauty and helping to save the planet..  No matter what your desire happens to be, you can find a property in Guanacaste to meet your needs.  In virtually every case, you will be able to find exactly what you are looking for at a price that is much less than you would pay for a comparable property back home.

When exploring Guanacaste, looking for real estate to buy to begin your new life, don't be afraid of wandering off the beaten path.  Just the fact that you are considering retiring to a different country makes you a unusual.  There are many great areas on the Nicoya Peninsula that are tucked away, and offer you the chance to start a whole new lifestyle.  Why would you want to live where everyone is living, and do what everyone else is doing?
