Google Has Changed SEO Forever

Expert Author Deepankar Mukherjee

New interface by Google
Google launched a new user interface in May 2010 for the search result pages wherein the user could refine the results of the searches. It added a left hand side navigation area where the users were able to filter the results. This has made it relatively very easy for the users as earlier the users needed to use the advanced search option for the same which was definitely time consuming.

Now the big question that arises here is that would the change affect SEO and if it would then what will be the after effects? Yes it would definitely affecting SEO as now the SEO professionals would need to be more equipped to optimize the site with various other Google properties such as images, videos, blogs etc. Working to get a high ranking key word phrase alone would not solve any purpose as the users can now easily filter you out of their search. Optimizing for various time frames available to user has also become the demand of the time (past 24 hours, past days, past weeks etc.) for getting the best optimization.

The new web indexing system: Google caffeine
Right after the launch of the new interface Google also launched their new web indexing system in June 2010. Caffeine helps to effectively increase the speed of the search. It helps to increase the size, relevancy and also comprehensiveness of the search engines. Before the launch of caffeine Google used to take two weeks to analyze the entire web and update the search engine pages. But with caffeine it can do so in regular basis and the content is indexed regularly.

Caffeine now helps the search engine to pick up the new content faster as well as changes on the title tags and META tags are indexed faster thus helping to increase the speed of optimization considerably.

Saving your time: Google Instant
Google instant launched in September 2010 helps to show the result as soon as you start typing. Thus you need not type the whole phrase to get the results. The process definitely helps to save considerable time as more often than not you get what you were looking for before typing the whole phrase. Google suggestions also help a lot in this regard as the users are able to refine their results in a better way.

As the users would now get instant results thus the optimization now needs to be based on the primary keywords and also the keywords that appear on Google suggest. Long tail keywords now should not be the focus of the optimizer.

Almost all the world is an avid user of Google and thus if you are looking for more information keep hooked and get subscribed
