Good and Bad Places to Set Up the Sharp LC22DV27UT

Expert Author Joseph Clayton

The Sharp LC22DV27UT seems like the perfect thing to set up in a variety of places around the house. However, you should ignore the temptation to set it up in certain places, but go with it in other places.

Your bedroom: Possibly good, possibly bad. If you're married or living with your partner, you might think it would be fun to have in the bedroom to watch certain things at certain times. However, do you really want to wake up to the sound of Fox News every morning? It can become a drag on one partner and a help on the other if one person needs it to sleep, and the other can't get to sleep with it on.

Kids bedroom: Not if you're raising them to be critical and skeptical of advertising and want them to grow up with reasonable attention spans. It seems like an easy thing to reward your child with TV in their room, but only if you know they don't really watch it all the time anyway.

Kitchen: Another thing that seems like a good place but is actually a bad idea. Simply because having an easily accessible TV in any room of the house is not a good idea if one wants to actually think for themselves for more than a few moments each day. The kitchen is especially bad because it provides a distraction and because people should be taking the time that mundane kitchen work provides to contemplate things in their lives instead of being fed ideas even then.

Rec Room: This is a good place for it, for obvious reasons. It may even be a bad idea not to have a small television in this room. It doesn't have to be on all the time, but it would be perfect if it was. It doesn't have to be on in any of the rooms mentioned, but this time, there's no temptation to turn it on in places you probably shouldn't.

Trailer or camper: While one can make the argument that television has no place in any kind of wilderness vacation setting, the argument can also be made that on the road, it may be the easiest form of news information available. It would be good to take along with you on long trips as well. It's a good diversion in many vacation settings.

Living room: While people would typically put a much larger television in the living room, making this an obvious no answer for this particular model, it is actually a bad idea for another reason as well. In most people's households, the television seems to be the center focus of the main room of the house. Why? Is it the sole way you entertain guests? Is it what you spend the most time in front of? Think of an alternative location to put the television. Perhaps the living room is still the best place, but how about more to the side of the living room, as if it's one focus of many?

The Sharp LC22DV27UT can go in many places around the house, but before you just put it anywhere, think about whether or not it will help that location, or just make it another place to watch TV.
