You must have heard that beans and nuts are good sources of calcium. This is true and among these foods, Brazil nuts and almonds are two of the richest sources of calcium. So if you are looking for another good source of calcium, almonds is the answer.

It has been found that around 15 almonds provide up to 40-50 mg of calcium. Other than almonds, sesame seeds, walnuts and hazelnuts are also fairly good sources of calcium. Tahini and tofu can be added to an everyday diet to receive adequate amounts of calcium on a daily basis.

Milk and dairy products, calcium fortified food, stuff like ready-to-eat cereals and orange juice, blackstrap molasses, boiled bone soup, green leafy vegetables, fish, seafood, eggshell and bread are considered some of the richest and most healthful sources of calcium.

Almonds are also beneficial for health because they help in nerve transmission and make your memory stronger. That is why it is a tradition in many countries to eat seven almonds a day. The best thing about almonds is that they are available throughout the year.

To make them a good source of calcium, almonds can be added to a lot of dishes, especially desserts. A mixture of roasted almonds, dates, whipped cream and banana is a delicious treat. Many other recipes can also be employed to not only savor the great taste of almonds, but also obtain adequate amounts of calcium and other nutrients.

Dry, roasted almonds contain vitamin E, magnesium and phosphorus in large quantities. All these nutrients are good for overall health and they also make the immune system stronger and more capable of fighting against all types of diseases. Some other minerals and vitamins are also found in almonds, and all in all, they can make a healthy meal for people of all ages.

Almonds have been found to be connected with lowering blood cholesterol levels. People who eat almonds regularly are at a reduced risk of developing heart disease and degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Almonds can also be used to prevent diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

If you want to promote optimal health, don’t forget to add almonds and other nuts to your everyday diet. In addition to these, find some good calcium and vitamin supplements to prevent and cure calcium deficiency in your body and ultimately, reduce the risk of developing bone disease or osteoporosis in old age.
