In the late 1980s we had a campaign in Denmark that was called "Smile - it's contagious" [Smil - det smitter]. People got free stickers to put on jackets, school bags, cars and in many other places. This was long before the age of TV-ads in Denmark, but we did have a public service information program called OBS, meaning - in Danish - information to citizens about society. In that program it was explained how even a small smile to your bus driver in the morning could inspire in a whole new direction.
Many years later, we have sometimes forgotten how little energy it takes to be kind to the people we meet. You can't possibly guess what it's like to sit in a supermarket at the cashier's desk, listening to complaints from customers about how busy they are. If such people had started a few minutes earlier they would have had the time to do their shopping. But they didn't, and therefore they are stressed up.
You Can Change All of That
All change begins with yourself. You can change the way you come across to others, and taking on that personal responsibility will really help rediscover the power to change. Today we also call it "The Law of Attraction" since out positive spirits will attract positive people, whereas grumpy people attract complainers.
If you want to innovate both your personal life and your business, you need to take control of your life. Starting today can be life-changing, but you need to get the process started.
Nothing comes by itself. If you don't start the wheels nothing happens.
This is the primary reason why much change never comes into effect. Noone takes a stand to change things in their own surroundings. They expect leadership to wave some magic wand, and then everything is different. It doesn't happen like that.
Like good soldiers at war, a leader shows an example, but he (or she) must be able to rely upon the rest of the team to be with their leader. Otherwise the whole concept collapses - and you end in a standstill where nothing new is achieved.
Go Inspire Others With a Smile
Now that you know how innovation is started, you can be inspiring towards others. Set the goal of making at least one person notice a smile tomorrow, two the next day - and before you know it, it all becomes a new good habit of generating smiles all around you.
