The golf swing has so many moving parts that many people consider it nearly impossible to master. While most will never "master" the golf swing, if you learn the proper wrist movements and how you should hinge your wrists during the swing then you will get great results!
Golf Swing Wrist Hinge
A lot of golfers make the mistake of locking the wrists during the swing, and this leads to a loss of power as well as inconsistency. If you want to improve your golf game and start hitting the ball further and straighter then you must perfect the wrist hinge in your swing.
1. When you take the club back, your wrists should start hinging at about hip high. When your wrists reach this level, the should naturally "break" and the golf shaft will start pointing toward the sky (almost). A lot of golfers try to prevent this natural wrist action in order to generate more power, but in fact they are actually hurting themselves. If a golfer wants to generate more power, then he needs to use his wrists!
2. Once you reach the top of the backswing you must rotate your hips toward the target in order to get the club coming down on the right plane. At this point your wrists should be cocked, and you should be creating a tremendous amount of "lag" between your body and the club head.
3. When you come into the ball, do not flip your wrists! You want to retain that sharp angle of attack coming into the ball, as this will increase your power and distance!
