Golf Holidays in Northern Ireland - The Top Golf Clubs
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

Northern Ireland is surrounded by spectacular scenery, which makes it a great place for various outdoor activities, including a game of golf. Indeed, it is an excellent idea to spend golf holidays in Northern Ireland because it has many beautiful golf courses where you can practice your swing or play with your family while enjoying some breathtaking views.

The Royal Belfast Golf Club is one of the top golf clubs in Northern Ireland, as well as the oldest. It was founded in 1881, although its present course was established only in 1925. It is also considered a challenging course, putting the skills of golf enthusiasts to the test.

The Royal County Down Golf Club in Newcastle is also one of the oldest golf clubs in Northern Ireland. Like the Royal Belfast Golf Club, it offers spellbinding scenery, particularly of the famous Mourne Mountains. It offers two link courses - the Championship Links for expert and experienced golfers, and the relatively easier Annesley Link for families spending holidays in Northern Ireland.

The Castlerock Golf Club has two links courses, as well - the more challenging 18-hole Mussenden Course and the easier but equally enjoyable 9-hole Bann Course. Designed by Ben Sayers, both courses offer breathtaking views, since they are both surrounded by streams, sand hills and other amazing natural landscapes.

The most popular of all the golf courses in Northern Ireland, though, is the Royal Portrush Club, which is also one of the main reasons why golfers spend their holidays in Northern Ireland. Indeed, the Royal Portrush Golf Club is consistently listed among the world's top golf courses, particularly because of its breathtaking scenery and the challenges it presents to even the most experienced golfers.

For a course that is part parkland and part links, head out to the Ballycastle Club. The first five holes are located on parkland, while the remaining ones are on dunes and hillsides with stunning views of the Sea of Moyle, the Glenshesk Valley and Knocklayd Mountain.

If you want to play at a parkland course, you can go to the Radisson Roe Park Club, one of the newest golf clubs in N Ireland. This 18-hole golf course is situated on the grounds of a historic estate where St. Columba addressed the High Kings of Ireland and Scotland. It remains challenging, though, particularly because of its water features.

There are several other excellent golf courses, too, such as the Clandeboye Club in Bangor and the Ardglass Club in Downpatrick. And if you want to take a break from golf, there are also many other interesting things to do and see. This way, you'll surely enjoy your holidays in Northern Ireland.
