Born in 1970, Gloria Trevino or popularly known as Gloria Trevi, is a famous pop rock singer in Mexico. She has a very controversial life that gained her the nickname the "Madonna of Mexico."

Born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, a place surrounded by poverty in violence, Trevi came from a poor family. Deprived of money and food, Trevi struggled to survive during her younger years. At an early age, she dreamed of becoming an entertainer. She learned poetry at a very young age of five and took ballet and piano lessons as well.

When she was 10 years old her parents divorced. At the age of 20, she left Nuevo Leon and moved to Mexico City where she sang and danced on the streets to earn money. To augment her income, she also taught ballet lessons and even worked in a taco stand.

It was in Mexico City that Trevi met Sergio Andrade, a manager who is allegedly a slave master and child molester. In 1989, Trevi released her first album titled "Y Que Hago Aqui?" (But What am I Doing Here?). Her second album which included the song "Dr. Siquiatra" (Dr. Psychiatrist), became an instant hit and made her famous.

Trevi became even more popular for challenging the machismo idea in Mexico. She has broken social standards and was known to take feminist stand point in her songs. She too became known to be the entertainer that explored sexuality that most Mexican singers in the past have not done before. There was even a time during Trevi's performance where would ask her male audiences to come up to the stage so she could undress them. Despite all these, Trevi even gained more popularity among Mexicans and Latin Americans. Her fans would even imitate the way she dressed.
