One of the biggest obstacles to getting in shape is finding the time to work out regularly. Time is a precious commodity that we often find ourselves short of. Unfortunately you're just not going to get the results that you're looking for if you're not doing some form of exercise consistently. The trick is to exercise when you can find the time. Don't worry about if it's better to do it in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Just do it when you have time and can do it consistently. Many people have desk jobs that demand hours upon hours of sitting at a desk glued to a computer. So if you just can't find the time outside of work to exercise do your best to get as much of it as you can while at work. Here are some ideas for getting exercise during your work schedule:
1. Make the most of your commute. If you're close enough, walk or bike to work. If you ride the bus, get off a couple of stops early and walk the rest of the way. Or simply just park your car at the far end of the parking lot.
2. Stand, don't sit Look for opportunities to stand up and walk around. Instead of calling another employee, get up and walk to them. Stand up while you're talking on the phone. You will burn more calories by standing than you will by sitting.
3. On your breaks don't just sit in the break room. Go for a short walk or do some stretches.
4. Swap your office chair for fitness ball. The fitness ball is unstable and it forces you to use your muscle to stay balanced. On your breaks you could do some other exercises on the fitness ball too.
5. If you get an hour for lunch use some of the time to go for a walk. Bring other employees with you to socialize with and be accountable to.
6. If you're really serious and you have an office with some space, keep some fitness equipment in your office like resistance bands or small weights.
These are just a few ideas that can help you improve your fitness when you just don't have time outside of work. Remember, any time you can find is the best time to work out.
