The most famous Yellow Canary in the United States and perhaps even in the whole world today, is Tweety, the fictional Warner Bros. character. Also called as Tweety Bird or Tweety Pie, Tweety is one of the most loved animated characters of all time. His name "tweety" is actually a play on words; its meaning was originally "sweetie" and "tweet," which typically refers to the sound that birds produced. He is more than fifty years old and was created in 1942 by Bob Clampett in "Tale of Two Kitties". Orginally, Tweety was called as Orson and used to be a wild baby bird.
Tweety has a good-natured character that spends his life happily inside his cage or in his nest. Yet, when a cat or someone threatens him, Tweety can turn into a devious and malicious bird capable of kicking his foe even if he's down. In most of his appearances, Tweety is seen with his Granny - his owner.
Although most people believed that Tweety is female because of his high pitched voice and long eyelashes, the truth about this Yellow Canary animated character's gender is that he is a he - a male specie which has been established numerous times in "Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries" series.
In addition, although Tweety is said to be a Yellow Canary bird, he was oftentimes called as a "rare" and important "tweety bird" and was even called once as "the only living specimen." Nonetheless, their title song stated that Tweety is in fact a canary bird. His shape is similar to a baby bird and his yellow feathers were added as he aged.
