Get Clear As A Coach - How You Offer Products And Services That Deliver Your Big What

As a reminder, the BIG WHAT is what you are known as a coach for. So, you're clear about who you work with and what problems you are expert in working on, or goals you facilitate achievement of.

One way you can do this is to try to "tick the boxes" of the different representational systems so that you are engaging with as many groups of people as possible. The representational systems are well known in NLP and in a nutshell are:

  • Visual- sight
  • Kinaesthetic - feeling
  • Auditory - sound,
  • Audio-digital -Facts/ talking about it / talking to yourself (will generally have another system very close behind it!)

So, when you were setting up programs and offers that related the main needs of your client group, you may consider

Visual - Webinars, skype with webcam for one to one coaching, face to face coaching & workshops, notes emailed through. Having workbooks & fact sheets that you can hand out or email through so people have something to refer to.

Kinaesthetic - a more intuitive way of working, finding out about how to use body language in your coaching or to change state with your clients, having a scale that checks in how people are feeling.

Audio - working on the telephone, teleclasses, podcasts, mp3's of what you do.

Audio digital - keeping to the facts. What research is there you can use of where coaching works? Having a Return on Investment close to the coaching that you do to help Clients see where they have gained value from working with you.

What's the most effective?

When you are thinking about what the most effective way is to offer products and services that deliver your BIG WHAT, key elements you can consider are:

  • What are you comfortable doing? i.e. if you are more comfortable starting out with just offering one to one coaching, start there and then use the records you have of your sessions to find out what the additional products and services you can offer are. For instance, I found that many of my clients were getting stuck because they were taking too much work, or other projects on, which was how I came to write e-book on boundaries.
  • What are you most excited about doing? Conversely, sometimes you will get most passion and motivation out of a project when you are working with a new way of doing things. It's good to have a research and development team of clients that you can test these ideas on - they get an early sense of what you offer, at a low cost, and you can get invaluable feedback to make the most of the classes you offer
  • What do people like? It may be that there is an "accepted" or "easy" way to offer what you do. For instance, many love the fact that coaching is often by phone as it means it is easy to fit in, has no travel time and often helps keep accountability high without to be face to face with someone - that little bit of extra distance can really open up the honesty door!
