This past week, two giants in baseball history passed away. These two great men possessed two distinct qualities that every business owner must develop in order to succeed. They certainly do apply as it pertains to building your home based business. Now, if you're not a huge New York Yankee fan, that's ok. You just have to respect the two men for what I'm about to share. Two qualities... passion and attention to detail. That's the common thread between George Steinbrenner, Bob Sheppard, and succeeding with your network marketing business.
First let's talk about George Steinbrenner, super successful businessman. Now you may not always have liked or agreed with his demeanor or style. What you have to admire was his tenacity and his will to win. He did whatever it took to put a championship caliber team on the field each season. He was constantly striving to be the very best. Any year that the Yankees didn't win the World Series was considered a failure. I don't know if I'd go so far to consider every year without a ring a failure, but I can understand his drive. It's this drive, tenacity, passion, whatever you choose to call it, that helped him become one of the greatest owners in sports, not to mention building one heck of a lucrative empire to say the least.
Bob Sheppard was the voice of Yankee Stadium for over 50 years. His voice would boom over the ballpark public address system, but not in an overpowering sort of way. The thing you noticed about Mr. Sheppard was that he was very articulate. Players from teams all over Major League Baseball, over several different eras, were honored to have him announce them to the crowd. Bob would take the time to meet each player, speak with them, and ask how to properly pronounce their name. How's that for building relationships with people? He took pride in his performance, wanting to always do a great job. Like I said before, attention to detail! Anything less was unacceptable in his eyes.
So do you have these two traits? Are you passionate about your business? Do people feel your enthusiasm? There's a saying that goes something like, if you love what you do you'll never work another day in your life! We should all apply this to our own ventures. Do you pay attention to the small details as you are making contacts and meeting new people? Little things such as knowing folks names and their correct pronunciation can take you leaps and bounds further while building the relationship with them.
Yes, these are two powerful traits to have in your tool box. Passion and attention to detail! We can learn from these two influential men, and many others like them, by the way they lived, even after they have gone. May they both rest in peace!
