The GPS manufacturers may be struggling to cope with the economic recession that has gripped the U.S., but that hasn't kept them to move into new markets and come up with new product lines. The outdoor navigation market is expanding fast and companies such as Garmin are taking advantage t come up with new solutions for this segment.
The Garmin Oregon 400i is an innovative outdoor navigation system that lets you navigate the outdoor waters like a pro. It's a waterproof GPS that provide shoreline details, depth contours, boat ramps and mile markers for hundreds of lakes in the nation. If you are into sailing, you know the value of a handy device that tells you exactly where you are, and how you can get to where you want to go. With Oregon 400i you can do that and more.
The Oregon 400i comes with 3-inch color touchscreen display is doesn't come with glare and helps you read the coordinates easily. I didn't personally have a problem with the 3-inch screen as this device is not meant to be used as a car GPS. You also get a built-in electronic compass that provides you with information even when you are not moving, and the barometric altimeter tracks keeps you up to date with the changes in pressure.
The battery and SD card slots are positioned under the waterproof surface, which means you won't have to worry about your device getting wet under tough conditions. What I like the most about this gadget is the HotFix. The device automatically calculates satellite positions and makes the whole connection process shorter. And with the 3D maps available on the device, you are going to see a better glimpse at where you are and where you are going.
Oregon 400i GPS is a wonderful solution for those interested in outdoors and sailing. It's waterproof and portable. And it comes with a wealth of maps that you can use to navigate the waters. It will cost you a bit, but it's a very handy tool.
