Nearly every household will have some sort of gardening equipment, even if it's just an old spade or garden fork that the previous owners of the house left in the garden shed. But the amount of equipment you will actually need to keep your garden in some sort of order really depends on the size of your garden and if the upkeep of your garden is a mere necessity, if gardening is a passion or if you want to make a bit of cash from your garden.

For the person who only wants to do enough gardening to keep it looking good, the basic gardening tools will suffice. Tools such as a decent spade, a garden fork, a hoe, some shears and a lawnmower would be all that is needed for a tidy looking garden.

However, for the gardener who is passionate about their garden, there are hundreds of different tools that you can get to make the job of creating your masterpiece an easier and less labor intensive task.

If you have just moved to a property with an uncultivated patch of land or have decided to completely re-do your present garden, a great tool to save you the monumental task of digging over a large patch of land is a tiller. When you are ready to begin turning over the land, you really should consider buying, hiring or borrowing a tiller - or you could just put one on your Christmas list! The tiller will make the thankless task of turning over and breaking up the soil a much easier and quicker job. It will help you to easily incorporate fertilized quickly and easily
