GOD’s Technique to Walk Run Relax

by Jack Nirenstein

iUniverse (2006)

ISBN 9780595407576

Review by Irene Watson for Reader Views (1/07)

Nirenstein, in his introduction to “GOD’s Technique to Walk Run Relax,” tells the reader that he has been “given the knowledge by our creator to change the face of health and fitness as the world knows it.” He further claims that “God has kept that knowledge a secret from everyone, even the professionals, until he showed the way to me.” Of course, reading this statement challenged me immediately to continue reading to see what exactly Nirenstein was given and if it truly is a previously “unknown” technique that he is now exposing.

Much emphasis is given on being balanced, or more so, centered when standing still. Nirenstein tells the reader that that we must be off-centered to run. He further explains a simple technique how to work with gravity, be off-balance, and yet not fall. He qualifies his information by saying that “I am not the first person to say that gravity pushes you forward to run. However, I am the first person to figure out the biomechanics to get the right effects from using gravity to run.”

Some of Nirensteins’s biomechanics include: angling legs for speed, how to get more oxygen through muscle control, and, how to power for leg swing speed. He stresses that each instruction he gives is of extreme importance and missing a feature in his book “could derail you.”

Nirenstein’s relaxed self-transport technique also gives better circulation and respiration, as well as ease on the body with prevention against injury. He stresses over and over to learn his technique first and then use the technique during training to be a more effective runner.

I was happy to see there was a section on treadmill walking or running included in Nirenstein’s book and was even happier to find the same techniques could be applied. With book in hand, I gave my first try and I must say I did see a slight difference. I believe that with practice, and not having to hold the book in hand to be sure my stance and foot placement are correct, I will notice improvement in my speed.

Nirenstein’s book, “GOD’s Technique to Walk Run Relax” is not one you can take lightly or breeze through thinking you could pick up the technique and change your running style. I found myself reading areas over and over again, trying to get the concept to make the changes myself. Fortunately Nirenstein has many illustrations and his explanation is very thorough. Whether or not I “got” the technique will only be told by time and how my own endurance improves. It is not easy to change from a body position I used for a long time and change it immediately to a new stance. It takes time and effort, but very plausible and beneficial. I commend Nirenstien for taking a chance in exposing a technique to change running that defies all previous scientific studies.
