Many of the work-from-home products sold today sell the same information about how to become an online affiliate. The only differences are that the systems lay out the program in different ways and present them in different formats. The basic similarity is that in order to work from home as an affiliate you need to do 3 things.
1. Choose a product
2. Start a blog to promote that product
3. Get traffic to your blog
Three steps - that is it! It all sounds very easy and it actually is just that simple if you break it down and start taking immediate action.
First - choose a digital or instant download product that interests you and that you will enjoy writing about. Do not stress out over the "writing" part I mentioned - starting is actually the hardest part. Once you start, it is easy and with time it keeps getting easier and easier.
Open a new free email account which is to be used only for this product. Use the product name in your email address. If you choose to promote an e-book on cat training (which, by the way, is an oxymoron) choose a user name such as CatTraining101 or TrainYourCat or something similar. Do an internet search for "free email" to find out where free accounts are available. If the name you want is not available at the first free email service, you can either try different user names until you find one that is easy for you to remember and easy for others to remember or you can try other email services until you find one that has that particular user name available.
Just a quick note: if you are going to use a free blog (such as Google's) you might want to just set up a Google gmail account for your email address so you can then just add your free blog to the account.
Next, if you can afford it, you should actually buy the product you are wanting to promote. If you cannot afford it and it is a product offered on one of the major affiliate programs, there are going to be a whole lot of reviews or write-ups about that product already so you can search for that product on your favorite search engine to gather up enough information to sound knowledgeable about it. Learn as much as you can and make notes along the way so you can refer back to them later.
Second - start a blog. There are many different programs that tell you to buy a domain name and get hosting. That is great if you have a little money set aside for doing this. If you just cannot spare the money or do not have any money available at the moment and are needing to start by using free services, then you can get a free blog from Google. The blogs there are limited in the themes, downloads, widgets, and options that are available on other "paid" blogs, but it is a great way to start without spending anything. It is also a very easy program to use and you will be an expert in no time. Learning how to blog and posting consistently are very important - more so that where your blog is.
Third - drive traffic to your blog. There are so many different ways to market your blog for free. Social networking, bookmarking, article writing, getting backlinks, free ad placement, and sending emails, to name a few. The best information available for free online marketing is at warriorforum.com. The people here have discussed just about everything you will need to know to promote your product. The added benefit is that they all started out like you and many of them are extremely helpful. Sign up for your free account then go to the Main Internet Marketing Discussion Forum. From there you can do a search for the words "free traffic" or "best internet marketing" or something similar. There is so much useful information there, you just need to take a little time and do a little research and find something that you will find fun and easy. If it is not fun you will not stick with it.
The most important things to remember are:
Do not be distracted by everything else that is available out there now. Just focus on this one product and stick with it.
Learn how to be an internet marketer. Keep learning something new about marketing every week. Stay up on the current trends and stay on top of your promotions.
Set up a schedule and stick to it. Set aside at least 4 hours per week just for working on your business, blogging, promoting and writing articles. Set aside at least another 2 hours per week for research - on the product you purchased or are promoting, and on internet marketing. Spend more time per week if you can on these things, but the biggest thing is keeping to your schedule and making it a habit or a hobby that you enjoy.
Most of all - have fun! Enjoy what you do. Become passionate about it! Do what you love and the money will follow.
Best wishes in all things!
