Having a large dog in the house can put a strain on your nerves if regular accidents keep occurring such as pooping, peeing, and chewing things. A solution might be to build adog house for your dog, and if built properly will keep your large dog cozy and content for the most part.

There are many plans out there for large dog houses and you can pick and choose the one you like, but make sure the plans that you pick has a material list, a cutting list, recommendations for lumber to use, and adheres to your local building code. Your dog house should be thought of as an investment as well as a secure place for your dog to sleep.

If you want to get a set of free plans off the Internet then you will usually find that you get what you pay for, free plans usually do not come with some or all of the above mentioned lists and the writing is like chicken scratch with only a picture of the dog house to guide you. If a professional creates a well thought out set of plans, it's only reasonable to believe that they want to be paid for it.

One thing to always remember is to not use pressure treated wood in the construction of the dog house beaus poisonous toxins are used to help preserve the wood and repel or killed bugs, if your dog were to start chewing this wood then serious illnesses can occur.

When you build your dog house you should make sure you only use all natural wood in case your dog does decide to start chewing on parts of it and if he does then repairs should be done right away to prevent moisture from getting in and causing rot.

It is important to realize that building the dog house too big will be uncomfortable for your pet because you may think that it is really cool for your dog to have all that room to walk around in but it is their body heat that warms up the inside and if it is too big then your dog could be shivering on those cold nights.

An important thing to remember is if your project is an expensive investment then you should get a hold of a good set of plans, even seasoned carpenters make this mistake and think that certain projects can be done with their eyes closed only to find out differently later on.
