Having a free autoresponder when you are first starting out in business on the internet can be true godsend. Most of us start out on a shoestring budget. Anything that we can get for free can really help.
To use Gmail you will of course have to have an account. If you don't have one, simply go to Google and get one. The best part it that it is totally free!
If you have your business set up so you get lots of email with the same subject line, you can configure Gmail to respond to them for you.
For example, if you have run a survey about an Oster dog clipper that you are offering, ask your people to email you at OsterClipper@ YourGmailAddress. You can then configure Gmail to act as your free autoresponder.
To setup Gmail you need to enable 'canned response'.
- Click the settings tab a the top of your Gmail inbox window
- In the new window, click the 'labs' tab
- Scroll down and find 'canned response'
- Click 'enable'
- Scroll down more and click 'save changes'
Now go back to your inbox. There click on the 'compose mail' tab on the left of the window. You can now write the email that you want to send in response to the OsterClipper mail.
You can say something like:
"Thank you so much for giving me your opinion about the Oster Clippers. Your feedback will help me keep my site up with what you want. I have received many, many emails, so please forgive me if I don't get back to you immediately. Thank you again, _____"
Then just under the subject line for your email, you will see a new option.
- Click 'canned response'
- In the drop down menu
- Go the save area
- Click on 'new canned response'
- Name it using the subject line than you want your customers to use
- Click Ok
- Go back to the top of the top of your inbox
- In the settings area:
- Click 'create filter'
- In the filter box enter the subject that the emails will contain. (It's not case sensitive so don't worry about that.)
- Click 'next step'
- In the options that come up you want to choose 'send a canned response'
- Then in the drop down menu select the subject line you entered.
- Click 'create filter' at the bottom of the box
Now every time that you get an email with the subject line that you told your customers to use, the response email will go out to them. Don't forget to follow up on the emails yourself.
So now you know a cool Gmail trick you can use to save your self money with a free autoresponder. To learn more for FREE about internet marketing please go to: http://www.CreateYourFirstBusinessOnline.com
