Foods to Avoid to Not Feel So Bloated

Expert Author Steven Panzullo

We all try to eat a balanced diet and exercise daily for good overall health and better weight loss. However, there are still days when we look down and notice that our stomachs seem a little bigger than they did yesterday and many of us get frustrated and do not know what we are doing wrong. Well, some of that extra weight you think you are seeing could be bloating and it can be caused by the foods you are eating. Here are some foods to avoid not feeling so bloated and feeling good about yourself.

Raffinose is a sugar found in beans, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and many other vegetables that can when eaten raw cause more bloating. So for the best results if you still want to eat these foods, it is recommended that you cook them first. Also, it may be a good idea to not eat more than the proper serving to help avoid extra bloating. Lactose is a natural sugar found in milk and many other milk products such as sour cream, yogurt, and cheese. So when you are eating these products, especially milk, it is a good idea to keep this in mind and limit yourself to the suggested amounts per day.

Starches which are found in many foods including potatoes, corn, rice, bread, noodles, and pretty much any other flour product can also contribute to the bloating of the stomach. This is because these foods are broken down in the large intestine and tend to produce more gas than other foods. It may be a good idea to keep track of the amount of starchy foods you are eating. Carbonated drinks such as pop can also produce more gas and actually slow down the process of emptying the stomach which may cause it to become more bloated. Try to limit the amount of these drinks you consume each day and switch to water or juice instead.

We all hate the discomfort and bloating feeling we get after we eat a big meal but if you pay more attention to how much of these foods you are eating and try to limit them, you can cut down on the discomfort and bloating. This will help you to enjoy your food more and you will also like the way you look and feel as well.
