Folklore and Legends - Do Fairies Exist?

Do fairies exist? It is a good question and one which has never actually been answered. At one point in history, there have been a number of convincing images taken of these little people, but the photographs were surrounded in controversy and by no means actually accepted as fact. Five photographs in total had been taken and though they were later found to be a hoax, people nonetheless believe in the images as being authentic.

Fairies are supernatural creatures possessing magical powers. They're present in medieval literature and folklore. They are widespread in children storybooks and in European literature. They look similar to people but are a lot smaller. Like a witches they can cast spells, enchant a person and see into the future. They are mostly good and keep to themselves. They could be a bit mischievous and detached to the ways of humans. But, don't cross a fairy. They can have a bad side if provoked.

Children And Fairies

Of all of the creatures of the earth unseen, these mythical creatures tend to point out themselves to only children. It is within kids that the idea in Fairies makes them a reality. It isn't unheard of for a kid to say they have seen a fairy or they're playing with them.

Adults And Fairies

Once we become adults, it is when they no longer make themselves visible and are discounted as legends or myths. But do they really not exist? Or do we just refuse to believe? We discount the movements in the shadows, the unusual sounds within the night time, the whispers within the wind and unexplained happenings.

Unexplained happenings lend some proven fact that there is something aside from what we witness in our each day lives. May it be that they just respond only to people who believe in them? Possibly it takes a slight bit of belief to see them as youngsters so simply do.

It is simpler to not believe in them than to believe. Documented sightings of these beautiful beings go all the way back to Roman and Greek times. Again then they had been referred to as the little individuals, those without age, maidens of magnificence, godmothers and blessed creatures. They had been the protectors of the forest and ruled over all elements of the earth.

Dora Van Gelder, writer of the book, "The Real World of Fairies," writes that they do exist, however they are magical creatures that can't be seen by everyone. A deep internal awakening needs to occur before an individual can see a fairy. People and the little folk cannot exist on the planet as we all know it.

Though nobody can actually show they exist, they do present a wonderful escape from the stress of the world. It is all the time good to imagine that there is something good and magical that's void of all the hate, warfare and evil in this world. They bring us back to nature and the easier issues in life. They reside in a world that has no want or want for material needs. Nature is their world and home. The animals and youngsters are their friends. To see them, maybe we need to get acquainted with their world.
