Another symptom is when your cat starts to lose hair and reddish rash patches begin developing on their belly, ears, and neck. Allergy would have developed by then. Dig deep into their furs, especially on the back of its neck, tail and belly, and it is likely that you will find the parasites. And even when you do not find any there, you will probably find black little specks, being their excretion.

Often, these parasites are not fatal to cats, except in cases when they are ill or young kittens. They will however, feel much discomfort and prone to flea allergy dermatitis transmitted from the parasites feeding on their blood. The intensity increases over time, as your cat develops allergy to the saliva of the parasites. In rare cases, little kittens in infestation can become anemic when there is too much blood loss. Other ailments developing from allergy are tapeworms, which look like a string of small beads around the fur at the rear area, causing anemic in young kittens.
