Flaxseed Oil Benefits By An Actual User

Expert Author Enda McLarnon

I remember reading in a magazine a few months back an article written by a group of doctors about the importance of having Omega-3 fatty acids in your daily diet. At the time, and not really understanding what this actually was, the article looked interesting. They certainly made a convincing argument that we should somehow supplement the lack of omega in our body by taking some type of fish oil supplement or flaxseed oil supplement as there were many benefits to be had.

I am not really a fad person and neither am I that particularly health conscious but I do like to look after my body and I do take multi-vitamins as part of my daily intake to help protect my good health. Flax I had heard of but was more familiar with it as a plant. I had read about this product in various history books and how many years ago there was great industry converting flax into cotton.

What is Flaxseed Oil?

The report went on to explain that the flax plant is fully organic and that this plant had seeds which had a nutty taste. When crushed they then produced an oil and this oil had an abundance of Omega 3.

Therefore the natural logic and progression would be that if you took this oil you would have the right amount of this element in your body. One important point I did read was that omega is not something that is naturally reproduced in your body so it was important to have some type of food or supplement intake.

I do drive my wife to distraction as I never buy anything until I research it to death and I have always been like that. I searched various health forums, websites and any material I could find. There was the usual collection of rubbish but once I had filtered that out, it certainly helped me make up my mind.

My Analysis of Flaxseed Oil Benefits

There is little doubt in my mind that there are a number of flaxseed oil benefits and they appear to be with the heart, the bowels and the joints. The most interesting thing that I found was that not a single manufacturer of the product claimed that the oil cured anything, unlike the many websites whose main purpose was trying to sell the product.

My findings clearly demonstrated that having a daily intake of either fish oil or flaxseed oil would certainly improve your overall health. In essence this simply means that fish, fish oil or flaxseed oil contained omega 3 and it was this element that is a fatty acid that improves your body's health. Many people had commented that on the recommendation of their doctor they had taken flaxseed oil for arthritis or bone joint pain and they had all seen a huge improvement.

Other people on the blogs and forums had been advised to take these types of oil to improve their cardiovascular system and likewise all of them had claimed to see an improvement. It was a similar story for people who had suffered from irritable bowel syndrome.

There were also some other claims but there were not enough of these to add much weight to the flaxseed oil benefits. These included cancer, menopause, depression and other common ailments. Only where I could see enough people making these claims could I be open enough to take them on board as a proper result. That does not mean that they are not true but I could not find enough consistent and broad enough information to make a proper informed decision.

Part of my job at work is market research so I am well enough versed as to what constitutes substantial evidence to any given market. This topic of health is certainly well discussed and well debated and these oil supplements are a huge part of that.

Conclusion

In conclusion my general opinion is that flaxseed oil benefits are indeed evidenced by many and in a good way. There is enough evidence in the market place to convince me that many people have benefited from taking some form of fish or flaxseed supplement. I now take the capsule format myself as although I enjoy the odd piece of fish, I would not be a regular eater of fish products. Because of that I take supplements to improve the overall health and well-being of my body. I hope this has better informed you as to the actual benefits of flaxseed oil.
