Training your dog isn't just something you might like to do - it is vitally important if you and your dog are to have a healthy relationship. An untrained dog could be putting you and the dog in danger so it's important to make sure your dog is well trained from as early age as possible. Dog training is a hug subject but in this article I'll be going through a few tips that you need to consider when training any dog.

- First of all you need to be aware that training a dog takes time so you must be patient! If you aren't patient the dog will sense you getting angry and training is less likely to work.

- Always use positive training methods rather than negative. This means you praise the dog whenever he or she does anything right and avoid using any sort of harsh punishment should he get it wrong.

- The most basic commands such as heel, stay and sit are probably the most important so if you are a beginner dog trainer it might be a good idea to go to a training class for these. Once you have the basics sorted the rest of the training will become much easier.

- Don't start off with your expectations too high as this will only lead to frustration. Instead built up to more complex tasks slowly over time so that you don't get angry and your dog stays happy.

- Don't try and do hour long training sessions - especially with a puppy. Young dogs have short attention spans just like humans. Instead try to split up the training sessions into more manageable chunks.

Good dog training is essential if your dog is to live a healthy and happy life so get started as soon as your dog is old enough.

Dog training is a difficult task, but you can find some more tips at dog training tools and search dog training.
