The phrase 'gone fishing' often refers to a meaningless and worthless endeavor. But personally, I feel this is a misnomer. Fishing is neither a meaningless not a worthless act. These days, people see fishing as a supreme outdoor activity that brings back the vigor and vitality of our body and rejuvenates our mind. From busy executives to perpetually active housekeepers and perennially lively children, fishing expeditions and fishing camps are idyllic activities to keep the mind and body healthy at all times.
Trout is a species of game fish found in most parts of the world. They are divided into several subspecies and types such as cutthroat trout, lake trout, silver trout, bull trout, brook trout, flathead trout, brown trout etc to name a few. They differ in size and fighting qualities. Trout, when hooked, gets very aggressive and try every trick to escape. They are very intelligent and careful creatures too and would not take the bait if they feel something fishy. This is why experienced anglers swear that trout fishing is the ultimate in fishing related recreation.
You need to be careful about the size and strength of your fishing line and rod. Lures should be invariably made in such a way that it attracts the fish without arousing suspicion. Once the fish takes your lure, you have to carefully reel the fish in; otherwise, the fish would get away. They would leap, pull, twist and run forcefully that a rod and reel with less strength would easily give way.
The body of the trout is streamlined and made to match and blend with the surroundings well. This makes it almost impossible for an inexperienced eye to spot trout in even clear water. But you can detect perfect angling spots if you are aware of the types of varieties that stay there, their likes and dislikes, their feeding and resting patterns etc. For example, there is no point in angling in fast waters for large trout. Likewise, looking for brook trout in muddy waters can be futile. Lack of knowledge often makes people stay beside the waters all through the day without any success.
Lures should be used in a way that it imitates the actions of a live prey. Live worms that continuously wiggle and writhe, sweet corn that leaves its scent in the water, artificial lures that dissolves slowly in the water thereby leaving a fresh trail of scent and color, spoons that reflect light and spinner baits that move on their own are all effective against different species of trout. Trout, like us, undergo mood changes depending on the seasons. In winters, like us, they would be lazy and averse to taking the bait offered easily.
All these factors point to just one thing - the requirement of using the correct hardware and tactics while angling for trout. Your fishing expedition can be immensely pleasurable and totally memorable only if you are able to land a few good-sized trout. But careful execution of fishing tactics would prevent you from returning disappointed.
