First Anniversary - One Year Together, and How to Mark It
Print This Article Ezine Publisher Send To Friends Add To Favorites Post A Comment Suggest Topic Report Author

One year ago you made a vow to love, honor, cherish and be with the one you love above all others. You married the one person you want to spend the rest of your life with. The honeymoon itself may be over; the travel brochures of Hawaii or The Cayman Islands lost, the sunburn finally gone, the toaster broken. But you're still crazy for each other, and you can't believe it's been a year already. You're approaching your so-called 'paper' anniversary. What's a really romantic way to celebrate that? Here are ten ways. Take your favorite, or all ten, and really knock your mate over on your romantic first anniversary.

1 Make you own paper. It's not that difficult, (there are kits) and it could be a great way to spend a rainy Saturday afternoon. Of course you'll want to use your home-made paper to write each other love notes. Go ahead. Do it. If anyone comments on how cutesy it sounds, they're just jealous.

2 Use your home-made paper to send 1st anniversary notes to friends or, to write thank you cards to the great honeymoon hotels or resorts, especially to the housekeepers who treated you so well by honoring the Do Not Disturb sign that you hung on the door--a lot.

3 Go back there. Sure you can, and it may be a good tradition to start. Especially if the place you spent your honeymoon isn't far, spend one night there together, and write about the high points of your year--using the paper you made.

4 Bake a cake, with one candle. Make it your spouse's favorite, and surprise them with the confection after their favorite meal.

5 Make a list of 'One Thing I wish For You' next year. Start with a wish for your spouse about their career, or a decision about a child, and list one thing about each of them you hope happens in the first anniversary year.

6 Scribble down one thing you intend to make happen for them, and for the two of you in the next twelve months. It doesn't have to be exotic, expensive or difficult. Just make a goal, and put it someplace you'll see it every day, like a bathroom mirror, or on the fridge. Then make it happen. Anniversary number two will be that much more memorable.

7 A list of first things. Write down all the first things that happened to you during your first year.

8 On your actual anniversary date, call each other at one o'clock--am or pm--just to say "I Love You". If you're home alone, set the alarm for one am, wake up, and just cuddle for one hour--or make love, again.

9 Prepare a favorite dinner complete with main course, salad, side dishes, dessert and wine, then serve up only one plate of it. Take turns serving each other.

10 Tell each other throughout the day how you feel about them. E-mail, phone, IM, text, message them on FaceBook, Don't let an hour go by that you haven't told them about how wonderful it is to be with them, and to be married to them. Here are a few suggestions:

"You are 1-derful."
"You are the 1"
"1 is not enough."
"Be my 1 and only."
"Don't ever 1-der about my love for you."

You get the idea; let your imagination run wild.

One year together may not seem like much, but it's a good start on a solid marriage, if you remember to keep making things fresh and exciting. Don't be afraid to experiment, play, and celebrate your time together. In no time at all it will be two years, and time for--cotton!
