How many website blogs do you read, subscribe to and interactive with? You will read a lot more than the latter two that's for sure but why is this so?
Simple really, not all blogs you read are engaging enough perhaps a little dry or dare I say, boring!
Websites you subscribe to means that you are interested in either the subject matter or you find the person interesting and want to know more about their thoughts and opinions and this will normally prompt you to interact with the blogger too.
I know from personal experience that I will post comments on a website blog to state my thoughts, perhaps provoke a response and be part of a worthwhile community - which is why the likes of Facebook and Twitter work well!
So here's 5 ways to make a website blog post more interesting and engaging:
- Be natural - talk about your own experiences, let people know that you are a human being with feelings, emotions and want to express your opinions with the audience. People respond and resonate well to real life challenges.
- Controversial is okay - your blog post can stir a little reaction by being controversial. You do not have to agree with an article you want to discuss, and situation that has occurred. This is a great trigger for comments being left on your blog and leads on to my next point.
- Be interactive - by providing some call to action in your blog which can be a controversial challenge for others to respond or a quick poll or survey to collect general feedback will allow visitors to engage more.
- Not just plain text - consider using images, videos and audios to make the blog stand out and be noticed from your competitors (where appropriate). Having different media keeps visitors on your website longer than the average blog website.
- Making lists - using smaller paragraphs keeps the attention span longer and this is further enhanced by using bullet points or numbering the key points. Having titles like "5 ways to.." entices readers to stay and read the whole article.
Looking back on the sign-ups I have made to website blogs that I have visited often are the results of the above points mentioned in this article.
Did this article follow some if not all the points made here? That's a call to action perhaps!
Another Tip for you! Don't be boring! Make it more engaging and offer some free gift to help build your database list and at the same time, provide a more exclusive stream of articles and resources that your visitors will feel they have gained by joining this list.
I invite you to keep up to date with my articles and blog posts which covers a lot of details and can be found at http://FindingKeywordPhrases.com.
