Find Unlisted Phone Numbers

Expert Author Gary P. Thompson

Unlisted phone numbers are important to people who value their privacy. In fact, you might be someone who has an unlisted phone number. Still, in an emergency situation, it might be impossible for someone to reach you. Directories such as the Yellow Pages do not list them, so unlisted numbers might sometimes be more harm than help.

Fortunately, there are several ways to locate unlisted phone numbers. However, some of these methods work better than others. To start off, you will need certain pieces of information to help quicken the search for an unlisted phone number. You will need the person's full name, city, town, or area they are currently living in.

You can try doing a basic Internet search using something like Google, MSN, or Yahoo! to help find the number. This usually doesn't help much, though. Whenever you are doing such a search, take the information you know and put it into the search area. Narrow down your search by putting the person's name into quotation marks like so: "John Doe." This lets the search engine know that you are looking for "John Doe" and nothing else. You can add city names, addresses, or maybe even professions to the person's name to help further narrow your search. It might appear like: "John Doe" + Cleveland + dentist.

Still, for this to work, the person you are looking for will have to have posted their number somewhere on the Internet. Most people with unlisted numbers will not do this. Search engines will only locate this information if it's been posted in a classified ad, a social networking site like Facebook, or a message board. Unfortunately, the chances of finding an unlisted phone number via a search engine are slim to none.

After wasting considerable time and energy, you might find success by becoming a member of phone number background check lookups sites. While it does cost a nominal fee, these charges are typically small. These services grant access to databases that list both unlisted home and cellular numbers. These databases are regularly updated, keeping members up to date on the most recent phone numbers available, even cell phone numbers.
