If you are contemplating attending a well-established flight school then you are probably making a good choice. Flight schools are graded on their performance as well. Therefore, the more students that fail their check ride are a black mark against them. Eventually this type of event will hurt their business. Based on this you can pretty well rest assured that is a flight school is well established then they have a good pass/fail ratio. In order for them to achieve this standing, they have to have top quality flight instructors and that's exactly what you want.

It doesn't matter who you are or what kind of exam you are about to take there is always even a little bit of jitters. Your check ride exam is your final journey to becoming a pilot. Often when taking a practical exam students are prone to the code of silence. In other words, they are so busy concentrating, they don't speak a word. In the case of this exam, you should strive to do the opposite. Verbalize each maneuver or technique you are engaged in. This informs the instructor not only are you aware of how you are doing but are sure of what you are doing.

Do not lose your confidence. All through your course, you have done well and honed in on your weak area. Remember during your check ride exam you are the pilot in command and your examiner is the passenger. Naturally, any passenger's safety is your utmost concern so you are going to want to apply every bit of knowledge you have when you are in that plane. That's exactly what is going to make your successful in completing the test. Don't get so caught up in what you are doing that you forget the pre-flight passenger briefing and to ensure your examiner has put his seatbelt on. In other words do not be intimidated by your passenger, you are in command. After all that's what this final test is all about.

Do not underestimate yourself. You have come through many hours of intense training. You are in fact a Pilot and are now going through the formality of proving this. Obviously your examiner is confident enough in the training your received otherwise he would not put himself in danger by flying with you. In addition to this, your flight school would not have given you the recommendation of being ready to partake in the test. Remember we said earlier they don't want a high ratio of failures. Therefore, if they said you are ready for this then you can bet you are.

Prepare yourself. You will know your VOR requirement when you depart the airport. In addition, you will know the departure frequency, so prior to your test program these stats into your Nav/Com system. It will be one less thing for you to worry about. You will have gained this knowledge during your initial flight planning with the examiner that will be grading you.

Just remember that if you feel confident enough to get in a Plane and pilot it solo then you have every reason to feel confident about your final exam.
