Fat Confusion

Expert Author Alex Genadinik

There are many people out there who carefully monitor their weight and watch themselves in front of the mirror, checking for incremental increases or decreases in their shape reflections in the mirror. Sometimes, there may be changes in people's bodies that make them appear bigger around their waistline, and people think it is fat or weight gain. Often it is not simply weight gain, but a number of possibly more serious digestive or urinary tract problems.

A common problem of the urinary tract is an enlarged and protruding bladder. It happens as a result of an accumulation of urine that causes the bladder to increase in size and sometimes actually protrude, sometimes making it look like the person may have gained weight. In reality, this condition may be caused by something more serious like a urinary tract infection that needs to be treated by a medical professional.

Another common problem that causes the appearance of weight gain is simple stomach bloating after meal or liquid consumption. Sometimes the stomach stays somewhat enlarged for a few hours and people do not expect it to stay enlarged that long and panic when they look in the mirror.

This creates a bigger problem because seeming bigger when looking in the mirror creates psychological problems like frustration, possible sadness and sometimes even depression or hopelessness, which can actually cause a person to over-eat as a form of coping with depression.

It is a vicious cycle and people are encouraged to think of their relationship with health and self-image as a life-long endeavor, and not to over-react negatively due to short-term setbacks.

Some pages that may be good further resources deal with Urine, Bladder Distension and Abdominal Bloating. Hopefully these sites will help people increase health awareness.
