I'm a parent of two youngsters and as any parent knows, it's demanding, time-consuming and difficult. I make a decision to be physically active almost everyday and it's tough when you've got to care for and watch them at the same time (and with no babysitter option), so I have to confront exercise obstacles to overcome them. I became more creative.

Here are some strategies that have worked for me:

-Restless Kids. Maybe you're thinking of putting a DVD or going to take them out to the movies. Instead, do a calorie-boosting activity. Go to your local bowling alley, skating rink, laser tag or Jumping Jammin (indoor kids playground franchise) location. Be an example and join in on the fun (while burning calories).

-Drag The Dusting? Or vacuuming, cleaning the toilet etc. Put on your favorite energy boosting CD. Dance as you vacuum, dust and wipe. Let's your kids join in but everyone must do a little dancing.

-Little League Practice? Or soccer, softball etc. While your kid is practicing, take a walk around the perimeter of the parking lot or field.

-Wet Skies. If it's raining and you have to stay indoor and the kids are bored (maybe you are, too). Grab your jump ropes and skip, jump, hop! Go for it. Put the radio on and start jumping for 5 straight songs.

-Free, Boring Day. Go to your local park or high school track. Your kids can play Frisbee or catch in center field as you walk around. If at the park, walking around the perimeter of the playground as you keep an eye on them.
