A computer mouse is a device that is used for navigating through a windows operating system environment. Most people don't bother to do any research on the mouse as most people find them to be rather dull and insignificant components on their computer, but if you're interested in finding out about the mouse, then I suggest you read on for some interesting facts.
The word 'Mouse' was first introduced in 1965 of Bill English's publication and the Compact Oxford English Dictionary. Both of them state computer mouses and computer mice as acceptably plural terms.
The first prototype mouse was invented in the year of 1963 by a guy named Douglas Engalbart and his friend Bill English. The second mouse was then invented by the Royal Canadian Navy more than a decade after, in that mouse device a five pin bowling ball was used for tracking. All of these different mouses were created around the concept of a ball, but it wasn't until 1972 that the mouse we use today was invented by Bill English.
Xerox was the first computer company to have ball mouses manufactured for them. These devices were originally marketed in the year 1975. Later the wheel mouse was introduced into the market; these devices would have two rotating wheels on them.
The optical mouse came after, this device was invented by Steve Kirsch, and it uses an infrared sensor and infrared LED. A 16 pixel light visible sensor was then developed by Richard Lyon; this device would later go on to be marketed by the computer company Xerox.
