Facial Hyperhidrosis - Excessive Facial Sweating

Expert Author Shawn Hutchison

Hyperhidrosis is a condition where there is excessive sweating of the hands, feet, face or underarms. Normally we sweat because of the hot and warm weather or physical exertion but for someone who has facial hyperhidrosis these causative factors don't exist and they continue to sweat all the time. Even sweating more than everyone else around you when it's hot or you're physically active can be hyperhidrosis.

People affected by facial hyperhidrosis are much more withdrawn from social life than those that are affected by other forms of hyperhidrosis. You can't very well hide sweat pouring down your face, or carry on a normal face to face conversation as you're constantly wiping sweat from your brow.

The cause of facial hyperhidrosis is usually unknown. A perfectly healthy individual can have this condition especially if he or she is genetically predisposed, meaning it runs in the family. Facial sweating is aggravated by situations wherein one experiences stress, anxiety and nervousness thus the person sweats more. Facial hyperhidrosis can be treated with anticholinergic drugs that can block the production of sweat from the sweat glands. Side effects may include headache, constipation, dry mouth and blurred vision.

Luckily there are also many other natural remedies that may help curb excessive facial sweating. These include modifications to your diet and lifestyle, and even herbal remedies.

It is quite embarrassing to sweat excessively all the time in front of friends, colleagues and co-workers. A person with facial hyperhidrosis needs to have a towel on hand at all times, which is almost as embarrassing as the condition itself.

I too am trying to find a way to stop excessive facial sweating. I am determined to find a solution.
