Exercise Basics You Need to Know

Do you want to be healthy and look good at the same time? Do you want to relish the admiring glances of people when you show-off that perfect beach body or pepper you with queries about how you managed to transform yourself? Surely you do and so, say hello to exercise! If healthy living is a jigsaw puzzle, exercise is a piece without which you'll never be able to solve it.

It would be easier to list what exercise can't help you achieve rather than what it can! After all, there are numerous benefits of exercise and quite clearly there is something in it for everyone. However, if summed up, the major benefits are:

You become more athletic. Almost all types of exercises help you improve your mobility and athleticism. You can walk and run faster and also complete a range of movements which were previously beyond your capacity.

You build muscles. Exercises that work on specific muscle groups help in the development of new tissue and so, you can achieve rapid muscle growth. The more you exercise the greater chances you have of sculpting your body as you wish.

Weight loss. This is the reason why half the world is exercising! Burn fat, trim that bulge and fit into your old clothes. With exercise, it is indeed possible!

You are less prone to injuries as you age. Exercising helps boost your bone strength and flexibility of joints. So, even if you have an accident, chances are high that your bones and joints won't be severely damaged. Also, as you age bones become brittle but with exercise, this degeneration can be delayed.

You are less susceptible to diseases. With exercise you can lessen the chances of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, certain types of cancer, osteoporosis and most of the problems related to obesity. In general, you immune system works better when you exercise and so, you can even have fewer bouts of fever and common cold if you are active.

Emotional well-being. If you are active, don't get tired easily and have a physique you are proud of, chances are that you will succeed in most personal and professional endeavors. Greater social acceptance and the feeling of satisfaction with life can be yours too!

All these benefits may be enough to make you a fan of exercising, but then there are certain things you need to take care of, before you start exercising.

Your age and current physical condition: though any time is a good time to start working out, the stage of life which you are in, must be considered. It is best to work with a personal trainer, who can prescribe the right type of exercises for you.

Your fitness goals: having targets that are too far-fetched might not be the best thing for you. If you are 50-plus, have never exercised and yet want a six-pack body, it might take nothing short of a miracle! The point here is that you should set realistic goals so that you can become healthier via exercise.

Volumes can be written about exercise and its benefits, but by now you must have realized that if you are not into exercise yet, it's high time you start off!
