CCSP can be said as Cisco Certified Security Professional. CCSP certification is one of the Cisco's professional levels of certification. Successful candidates who hold CCSP certification will be able to demonstrate the knowledge of implementing as well as designing secure Cisco networks and also possess skills in areas such as firewalls, security management and VPN's etc.
The main eligibility to the candidates for obtaining CCSP certification is that they should hold their CCNA certification. In order to obtain CCSP certification, candidate should pass in total of 5 examinations. In these 5 examinations, 4 exams are mandatory and the last exam will be from four options. Each candidate appearing for the examination will be tested in specific areas which are related with network security. The following are the four examinations which are mandatory and they are:
1) SND (Securing Cisco Network Devices) or 642-552 which is of 75 minutes duration.
2) SNRS (securing Cisco networks with switches as well as routers) or 642-503 SNRS which is of 75 minutes duration with approximately 50 questions.
3) SNPA (Securing networks with ASA as well as PIX) or 642-522 SNPA which is of 90 minutes duration with approximately 60 to 70 questions.
4) IPS (Implementation of Cisco intrusion preventing system) or 642-532 IPS which is of 90 minutes duration with approximately 60 to 70 questions.
The following are the four options in which one exam shall be selected by the candidate for appearing to the final exam. They are as follows:
1) HIPS (Securing hosts by using Cisco security agent) or 642-513 HIPS and it is of 75 minutes duration with approximately 65 to 75 questions.
2) CANAC (Implementation of Cisco NAC appliance) or 642-591 and it is of 75 minutes duration with approximately 60 questions.
3) MARS (Implementation of Cisco security monitoring, response system as well as analysis) or 642-544 MARS which is of 75 minutes duration with 75 questions approximately.
4) CSVPN (Cisco secured virtual private networks) or 642-511 which is of 75 minutes duration with approximately 65 questions.
All these 5 exams shall be taken at any Pearson VUE test center or prometric test centre. Certificate validity is up to 3 years and after recertification has to be done by passing any current year exam or any 642 professional level exams.
