Everything You Must Know About Master Resale Rights

Expert Author Marcel Vinson

It's important to understand the difference between "resale rights" and "MASTER resale rights". The two are like night and day when it comes to control and the ability to mold and shape a product the way you want.

Let's say you have a product of your own that gives you exclusive rights to sell as your own product. This is usually an original product you or someone else created for you to sell by yourself, for yourself. No one else are allowed to sell your product and only you alone are allowed to profit from it.

When you offer "resale rights" to YOUR product, you're now offering your unique product up to be "re-sold" by someone else other than yourself "AS-IS". The re-seller isn't allowed to change the name, add something into or take away from the original product.

A reseller also has to pay most of the time for the right to resale a product you own or have master resale rights to.

When you offer "MASTER resale rights", you're giving away the farm (so to speak).

You're giving away control of your product for the end-user to do with the product as they see fit. Typically, they are sold at a premium in addition to buying the product themselves to re-sale under their own name, banner, logo's, etc.

This is a basic 101 lesson about the differences between "resale rights" and "master resale rights". It's simple enough, but most people get the two mixed up and find themselves in a load of legal trouble. So, before you sell an original product of your own or that of someone else's, make sure you read and understand your rights.
