A lot of things have been discussed about this topic, but you have to remember that learning and exploring this ability starts within you.

1. First, you have to acknowledge the presence of your psychic ability. You have to let yourself and your brain believe that you possess this kind of ability, whatever the degree may be, at this point in time. Tell yourself that you possess psychic abilities; make this your mantra everyday until you start believing in it, without any kind of reservations.
2. Learn as much as you can about psychic ability. Read books and magazines about it. Do research on the internet to enrich your knowledge on the different types of psychic abilities; learn about how you can further develop yours. Let yourself be absorbed in all the information that you learn.
3. Practice, practice, practice! Motivating yourself to practice your craft consistently will eventually make you good at it. Don't get frustrated though, if you don't see the immediate results. Your psychic ability will not be fully developed overnight; it will require your time and perseverance.

Try to think first who your caller could be. If someone is knocking at your door, try to see if you can know who it is before you open it.
When you're out for a walk or you're hanging out with friends, try to read people's moods. See if you can tell how someone is doing.
Hold an object belonging to a friend or to someone you barely know. Then relax, close your eyes, and observe the images that come to your mind. At first, the images you see may seem insignificant, but remember that you will continue to improve and understand through practice. Share what you see with the person, and see if it makes any sense to them.
4. You can also look for other exercises that you can practice on the internet. Try to do the simple ones first, before you move on to the more difficult exercises.
5. You can write about your experiences in a journal. This will help you keep track of your progress, and you can always refer back to this later.
As you continue in your months of practice and discovery, TRUST in your psychic ability. Negative thinking can slow you down in the progress of your psychic ability.
In order to develop your psychic ability, you have to fully accept it. Keep practicing, while always keeping your mind open to the possibilities.
